A 17-year-old girl died at a hospital days after becoming unresponsive when she was given anesthesia for a dental procedure at a dental practice in Illinois, according to multiple news stories.
Sophia Farmer, of Spring Grove, IL, died at a hospital on July 24 after undergoing treatment at Northern Lakes Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center in Grayslake, IL, on July 21.
The case, including the cause and manner of Farmer’s death, remains under investigation, according to the stories.
At about 8:30 a.m. on July 21, emergency responders arrived at the dental practice for a call of an unresponsive patient. Farmer was in critical condition when she was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to another. She died on the evening of July 24, according to the stories.
Farmer, survived by her parents, a sister, a brother, and other relatives, loved boating, camping, and dogs. Also, the teen was active in her church youth group and enjoyed singing on the worship team, according to her obituary.
