An employee at an Indiana orthodontics practice accused of stealing more than $50,000 in patient payments was sentenced to four years in jail, according to multiple news reports published on March 6.

The judge reportedly handed down the harsh sentence to Jennifer Fullenkamp, 62, who worked at Scheele Orthodontics in Batesville, IN, because of the amount of money she had stolen, and her actions sullied the reputation of the practice, according to the stories.

In January 2025, Fullenkamp pleaded guilty to theft.

In August 2024, Fullenkamp, of Batesville, was arrested for reportedly stealing several payments made by patients to Scheele Orthodontics.

In 2023, the practice notified the police of unaccounted or missing payments. An investigation revealed that Fullenkamp, who worked at the practice for years, convinced patients to pay for their dental treatment with cash in exchange for a discount, according to reports.

Fullenkamp purportedly stole the cash payments and altered the practice's computer records to cover up the theft. Over the years, she reportedly had stolen more than $54,000 from the practice.
