A dentist in Illinois accused of continuing to practice dentistry after his license had been revoked was sentenced to 18 months of court supervision, according to a story published on September 15 on Fox 32 Chicago.
Dr. Paul Petrungaro also was fined $1,500 and ordered to pay court costs, according to the story.
In January 2026, Petrungaro allegedly performed a surgical dental procedure without having a valid license, according to the story.
Petrungaro’s license was placed on permanent inactive status due to billing irregularities, unprofessional conduct, substandard care, patient abandonment, gross negligence, and failure to provide copies of dental records. In 2013 and 2023, Petrungaro’s license was suspended, according to state records.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
