Dos and don'ts for team training

A strong team is critical to greater practice success

A great team isn't hired -- it's created. Individuals who are excellent team members now didn't necessarily enter your practice that way. Talent needs to be cultivated. When you methodically build a high-performance team, you are helping to ensure long-term practice success.

Do

Execute training properly. Set aside training time to ensure that team members fully understand their roles. During training sessions, always encourage questions. Asking questions gets team members thinking and keeps them engaged.

Don

Don't train between appointments. Training your staff cannot be accomplished in the minutes between appointments. There simply isn't enough time to do it properly. Devote a portion of monthly staff meetings to provide structured training.
