Students at oversubscribed dental schools in England are being offered 10,000 pounds ($13,737 U.S.) to switch to a university with available space, according to an August 15 report in the Guardian.
In 2021, 28,690 students applied to study medicine and dentistry, up 21% from last year, the Guardian reported. This trend was caused by a huge increase in demand for places at dental schools, as well as far more students than expected achieving the high A-level grades necessary to receive an offer, according to the article.
