High Point University's Workman School of Dental Medicine held its first white coat ceremony, with 60 Doctor of Dental Medicine students comprising the inaugural class.
The school officially welcomed its inaugural class within the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center.
The white coat ceremony is a rite of passage for dental students and represents the trust placed in them by patients and the community. During the event, 60 students crossed the stage followed by a mentor or family member of the student's choosing helping them put on their white coat during a pledge ceremony. The school is North Carolina's sole private dental school, which opened its doors to students this fall.
