Will Maine be next to OK dental therapists?

Maine legislators have taken the first step toward allowing dental hygiene therapists to practice in the state. A committee approved the bill last week after increasing the amount of supervised training and limiting extractions to diseased permanent teeth.

But Gov. Brown did not include the services in his revised budget, despite 100% matching federal funds for people eligible for Medi-Cal under the Affordable Care Act.
