The Association for Dental Safety (ADS) Foundation has been awarded its third Susan Harwood Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The award recognizes the foundation's work translating occupational safety requirements into practical education for dental and medical healthcare workers and employers, ADS said.
The foundation is one of 67 nonprofits selected for a grant through the program. Through its two previous Harwood grants, the ADS Foundation trained 825 dental and medical healthcare workers in tribal health settings nationwide.
Under the new grant, the foundation will deliver 3.5 hours of training on hazard communication and personal protective equipment (PPE) to 500 dental and medical healthcare workers and their employers. The program will prioritize participants employed by small businesses with fewer than 250 employees who face barriers to safety training.
"This third award allows us to build on a proven foundation of education and training," said Andrea Haymore, executive director of the ADS Foundation. OSHA's continued investment, she said, helps the foundation reach more workers and employers with practical tools to recognize hazards and create safer workplaces.
