A dental assistant who was allegedly operating a spa in Texas without the proper license, where she gave a woman lip injections that resulted in an infection, was arrested, according to multiple news stories published on June 2.
Nahidah Hussein was charged with violating the state's medical practice statute and causing physical harm. Hussein does not have a medical license that permits her to give lip injections. However, she has an active dental assistant license, according to the state dental board.
In February, Hussein allegedly injected a client with lip fillers at Pink Beauty Medspa in Houston. The client contacted police after she got an infection from the fillers. The infection resulted in physical harm and approximately $1,400 in financial losses, according to the news reports.
Furthermore, the med spa has an active Instagram account, where Hussein reportedly posts about multiple cosmetic procedures.
Hussein was arrested at the spa on June 2 and released on a bond.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
