Police are investigating two cases in which one patient died and another went into cardiac arrest following dental cleanings at a dental practice in Minnesota, according to multiple recently published stories.
On September 23, Edan Cherrill, 25, went into cardiac arrest while sedated for a dental cleaning at Gendler Dental Center in Hopkins, MN. Cherrill, who has been sedated in the past due to his autism-related sensory issues, died on September 30 at a hospital after he was removed from life support, according to the stories.
Police have classified Cherrill’s death as “death-criminal.”
Just two weeks prior, on September 9, a woman undergoing a dental cleaning at Gendler went into cardiac arrest. The unconscious woman was taken to a hospital intensive care unit.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigations for both cases are ongoing.
Cherrill, who had lived in Minnesota since he was 9, enjoyed road trips, swimming, listening to music, trying new foods, and shopping for clothes. He was a unique person who will be remembered for the love he brought to his family, according to his obituary.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
