A dentist in New Jersey known for his outdoor Halloween displays is pulling the plug on his decorations after rows of cornstalks along sidewalks has him facing fines for city code violations, according to a message on social media.
Dr. Wayne Gangi, who owns and operates a practice in Clifton, NJ, announced on October 21 that he was removing the numerous dressed-up skeletons and other ghouls from his property. Also, Gangi promised to return the 3,000 full-size candy bars he planned to give to trick-or-treaters back to Costco, according to a post on his Facebook page dated October 21.
“I now know the meaning and feeling of persecution for a deed meant for public enjoyment,” Gangi said in his post.
Gangi, who has been creating these displays for a decade, was fined for setting up cornstalks along both sides of the sidewalk. He wrote that it was his attempt to create a mazelike feeling, as well as a barrier, to accommodate those coming to see the decorations.
Additionally, Gangi wrote that he received a violation for having extension cords placed in the yard.
Nevertheless, this isn’t the first time Gangi has made headlines. In 2019, a neighbor angry with Gangi’s display of Easter-themed Playboy bunny mannequins ripped it down, according to multiple news stories.
