Mo. to briefly expand Medicaid dental benefits

Missouri announced it would expand dental benefits to about 300,000 Medicaid recipients in January, but details are now emerging that the coverage will only likely last three months, from April until the end of June, according to a story.

As reported, Missouri Gov.Jay Nixon announced on January 5 that an estimated $35 million to be collected from delinquent taxpayers in the state would pay for the expansion of dental care for low-income residents in 2016.

At the time, Missouri officials were expected to submit plans to broaden the definition of adult coverage beyond "trauma of the mouth, jaw, or teeth as a result of injury or medical condition."

However, the governor estimated the program wouldn't be up and running until April and will end June 30, the end of the fiscal year, according to the story.
