75% of Irish teens have caries

Up to 75% of Irish teenagers have tooth decay, the Irish Examiner reported.

Citing research presented at the 2009 Irish Dental Association conference in Kilkenny, Ireland, the newspaper reported that nearly half of Irish children younger than age 5 have tooth decay, and that the percentage increases to 75% by age 15.

The research was the presented in the context of recent cutbacks to public dental health programs in Ireland.
