Birner reports increased revenue, overall loss in Q4

Birner Dental Management Services reported an increase in revenues for the fourth quarter of 2017. However, the company posted an overall loss for the quarter.

For the quarter (end-December 31), the company reported revenues of $14.8 million, up 3.1% from $14.3 million the same quarter of 2016. Birner's net loss for the quarter grew to $965,000, compared with a net loss of $539,000 in the fourth quarter of 2016.

For the year, the company reported revenues of $60.7 million, down 1.7% from $61.8 million in 2016. The company's earnings decreased to $855,000, down 65.7% from $2.5 million in 2016. Net loss increased to $2.6 million, compared with a loss of $1.4 million in 2016.

The company attributed the growth in revenue to an increased number of dentists practicing in the network. The dentist count has increased to 112 at the end of the 2017, compared with 98 at the end of 2016.

The company currently manages 68 dental offices in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona under the Perfect Teeth name.
