ADA launches CBCT training program for dentists, dental teams

The ADA is launching a cone-beam CT (CBCT) training program with separate continuing education tracks for dentists and dental team members. The program begins November 6 with a live webinar.

The first option, worth three continuing education credits, is open to dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and lab technicians. It covers the clinical applications of CBCT, image acquisition principles, radiation safety, and CBCT's role in patient care and treatment planning. The second option, worth eight CE credits and open only to dentists, adds advanced case-based learning, one hour of self-study e-learning, and a virtual study club.

Both tracks start with a live webinar from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central Standard Time on Friday, November 6. Dentists in the advanced track will continue from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CST focusing on case-based CBCT interpretation and clinical integration followed by a study club session on Tuesday, November 17. Dr. Trishul Allareddy, PhD, professor emeritus of oral pathology, radiology, and medicine at the University of Iowa, will lead the sessions, which will be recorded for on-demand access.
