Week in Review: KPIs lead to a pot of gold ǀ The oral-systemic link ǀ Top stories

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

It's hard to believe it is already the middle of March. Where exactly has 2024 gone?

This weekend, many here in the U.S. will don the green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. While most dental practices won't be open on March 17, that doesn't mean that dentists and team members aren't thinking about a different kind of green that day (and every other day of the year). With that in mind, I encourage you to read Dr. Roger P. Levin's article published earlier this week about the importance of knowing your numbers. It's a vital read for every dental business out there, especially as the first quarter comes to a close.

Another article I encourage you to dive into this week is this study that forges another link in the oral-systemic connection. While we're on the subject of studies, if you place implants in your practice, these reasons why implants may fail is an article you definitely want to read.

If you would rather expand your knowledge through listening than reading, I have a couple of new podcasts for you. My talk with MouthWatch’s Brant Herman on the state of teledentistry was an eye-opener for me on where this technology is heading. If you're into salivary diagnostics and what the future of your dental practice might look like, you'll find my talk with Lura Health's Daniel Weinstein very interesting.

Finally, how did toothpaste boxes land an airport worker in legal trouble? It's our head-shaking crime story of the week and one that will have you thinking differently about toothpaste packaging.

As always, thank you for reading DrBicuspid.com. If you are attending the Hinman Dental Meeting in Atlanta this upcoming week, I will be presenting five times on topics ranging from dental assisting to the hiring crisis in dentistry. I hope you’ll stop by one of my lectures and say hello.
