Sirona Dental Systems has won a patent-infringement lawsuit against Vatech over Vatech's automatic layer selection algorithm (ALSA) technology.
On March 9, 2012, the regional court of Mannheim in Germany granted an injunction against sales of Vatech's products that include ALSA technology. The court also awarded Sirona unspecified damages for Vatech's use of Sirona's intellectual property.
ALSA is an image-enhancement tool offered as an optional feature with Vatech's PaX-Primo and PaX-Primo(i) imaging systems.
