The Paris Local Division of the Unified Patent Court ruled on October 16 that aligner systems incorporating Angelalign’s torque ridges feature infringe on Align Technology’s patent for power ridge technology.

Angelalign challenged the patent's validity, which the court rejected, issuing an injunction requiring the company to recall and destroy infringing products. Also, the court ordered Angelalign to pay damages to Align and granted Align other relief, according to an Align press release dated October 16.

Angelalign must stop offering these infringing aligner systems in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Angelalign has the right to appeal the decision. It is unclear whether it will take that action.
