ADA standards on water quality, anesthetic cartridges open for comment

The ADA Standards Program has released two proposed ANSI/ADA standards for public review: Standard No. 190, covering performance requirements for single-use local anesthetic cartridges, and Standard No. 207, specifying manufacturer requirements for controlling microbiological quality of procedural water in dental units and stand-alone devices.

Both standards were developed through the ADA's consensus-based process by expert panels representing practitioners, industry, government, and academia, according to an ADA news article.

Dental professionals and infection control officers are encouraged to review the proposed standards and submit feedback before the comment window closes on Wednesday, June 10. Once finalized, the standards are expected to serve as compliance benchmarks for practices.
