Dr. Jonathan E. Burke has been named the new director of the U.S. National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).
Burke, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and medical director of an oral and maxillofacial consulting firm in Philadelphia, started on September 20.
Previously, Burke served as assistant professor of surgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, where he co-founded the institution’s first division of oral and maxillofacial surgery and supervised surgical residents across multiple specialties.
Early in his career, Burke served as a co-investigator on research spanning temporomandibular joint pharmacology, implant devices, and postsurgical pain management.
