Dentsply Sirona and Siemens Healthineers announced that the MAGNETOM Free.Max Dental Edition magnetic resonance (MRI) system has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A clinical trial validated the system’s potential across several dental specialties, including endodontics, periodontics, temporomandibular joint disorder evaluation, tooth extraction, and orthodontics.
Trial findings showed that the system can distinguish active inflammation from healthy or scar tissue, assess tooth pulp vitality noninvasively, and visualize teeth in relation to neighboring teeth and nerves, according to the companies.
