Week in Review: Does this rinse halt caries? Plus, election results and numbers that matter

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

Election night in the U.S. saw four cities pass new taxes on soda and sugary beverages, while there were mixed results on tobacco tax measures, even though a proposition backed by the California Dental Association that included e-cigarettes in California's tobacco tax passed overwhelmingly. Read about those results here. Also, four dentists were elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Read more about them here.

It seems every year we're asking why there hasn't been more action in Washington, DC, toward comprehensive dental and medical care for those who have served the U.S. There's plenty of lip service and good intentions, but seemingly a lack of action. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, I think we can safely agree that putting resources into improving care for veterans is a worthwhile goal.
