Preventive dental care returns to pre-COVID-19 levels

A new analysis from Delta Dental shows that dental care use among insured patients in the U.S. has rebounded since COVID-19.

Comparing 2020-2023 data with pre-pandemic 2017-2019 averages, preventive and diagnostic care have returned to near-normal levels.

Furthermore, direct restorations declined while indirect restorations rose, especially in adults ages 19 to 64. Night guard usage increased, and emergency and surgical procedures in adults under 65 decreased, according to Delta Dental.
