The University of Maine at Augusta is doubling the number of students in its dental assistant program and adding a new location, thanks to more than $200,000 in three grants, according to a December 7 report by the Kennebec Journal.

Twelve more students will now be accepted into the program and will go to a new lab in Lewiston. Previously, the program was based only in Bangor, according to the article.

The grants were provided by the University of Maine's Program Innovation Fund, the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation, and the Libra Foundation.
