A Utah dentist who surrendered his license in 2023 following convictions for trespassing and other offenses has been arrested for unlicensed dentistry, according to multiple news stories published April 15.
Dr. Richard Arthur Shulze, 52, of Eagle Mountain, UT, was charged April 14 with practicing dentistry without a license, which is a felony.
In October 2023, Shulze surrendered his dental license after entering a no-contest plea to DUI in Utah and another to trespassing in Nevada. He was eligible to apply for license reinstatement after one year, according to the stories.
A few months after he surrendered the license, authorities learned that Shulze allegedly rented an office space so he could finish old dental cases. Additionally, Shulze reportedly posted videos on social media in 2024, promoting his practice, Prevention Dentistry. When confronted by state dental board investigators, Shulze purportedly first denied but eventually admitted that he was using the office space to follow up with past patients, according to the stories.
At that time, the state issued a cease-and-desist order against Shulze and fined him $10,000. Despite this, Shulze allegedly continued treating patients and promoting his business on social media.
