Dental caries is one of the most common yet preventable childhood chronic diseases. Pit-and-fissure sealants are effective at preventing dental caries, but there is little consensus on when to place sealants and what material to use. In 2015, Peel Public Health did a review of sealants, specifically looking at when to place sealants and what material to use. This presentation will review the methodology used in the review and outline how public health units can use sealants in their practice. The presentation is also available as a webinar.
