Set the example

Your team is looking to you for guidance. Your attitude and actions set the tone for the practice. If you are moody, then the practice will often needlessly experience high stress. A positive outlook and disposition create the right environment for the team and patients.

Remain calm under pressure. Dental practices often operate at a frenetic pace. As the leader of the practice, you must exert a calming influence on your team. You are the glue that holds the team together. When your team sees you acting appropriately, they will likely follow suit.

Don't give into negativity. Every practice has occasional bad days. An extra-long emergency appointment can wreak havoc on an expertly designed schedule. To use an old expression, don't let a few bumps upset the apple cart. When you approach challenges with the right attitude, you'll be amazed at what you and your team can accomplish.
