ADS creates new nonprofit

The Association for Dental Safety (ADS) has launched the ADS Institute for Dental Safety and Science to help fill the void created by the closure of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Oral Health.

The institute will update and manage infection control guidelines and best practices. It plans to form an advisory committee to revise the CDC’s 2003 guidelines and will work with public and private partners to advance patient safety, according to the ADS.

Future goals include creating educational content, risk tools, training programs, and position papers. Additionally, U.S. dental groups will be invited to join the process as nonvoting liaisons, ADS said.
