TheraBreath presents clinical data for new toothpaste line

Church & Dwight presented eight clinical studies at the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) 104th General Session, held March 25-28 in San Diego, supporting its new TheraBreath toothpaste line.

The studies examined gum health, plaque prevention, malodor reduction, whitening, and enamel protection. Key findings included that TheraBreath Healthy Gums Toothpaste -- which contains stannous fluoride -- reduced gum bleeding by 70% versus baseline after 12 weeks and outperformed Crest Regular Toothpaste at every measured time point.

After eight weeks, all study participants showed at least a 50% improvement in bleeding from baseline. The toothpaste also prevented 65% more plaque buildup than Crest Regular at Day 1 and was 139% more effective at the gumline by Day 14. For malodor, the toothpaste eliminated bad breath in 93% to 95% of users at peak time points, compared with 4% to 6% for Crest Regular users.

A separate whitening study posits that TheraBreath Whitening Toothpaste reduced surface stains 50% better than Crest Regular after two weeks of use, with a 65%improvement after six weeks, without peroxide.
