Biolase gets new CEO, expands agreement with Henry Schein

Biolase Technology announced that its chief financial officer David Mulder has been named the company's CEO.

Mulder replaces Jake St. Philip, who resigned his position to pursue other interests, according to Biolase. Mulder has also been appointed to the company's board of directors.

"Dave has led our efforts to realign and reduce the company's cost structure, played a key role in the implementation of the reorganization of our domestic and international organizations, participated in new product development programs, and was instrumental in helping the company reach profitability for the first half of 2008," stated Biolase Chairman of the Board George d'Arbeloff in a press release. "And, most recently, he was instrumental in establishing our new purchase agreement with Henry Schein."

Biolase recently renewed and expanded its multiyear licensing and distribution agreement with Henry Schein. Under the terms of the agreement, Biolase sales and service organizations will continue to work with Henry Schein in the marketing, sales, and service of all professional Biolase dental laser system products.

Henry Schein will continue to be the exclusive distributor of the complete line of Biolase dental laser systems, accessories, and services within the U.S. and Canada, and will assume that exclusive role in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and Austria.
