One way to simplify running a dental practice is to have checklists for opening and closing the day, Levin said in the latest episode of Dental Practice Made Simple. These checklists help practices start the day organized and set the next day up for success.

"You may not think you need this, but if you're watching this as a doctor, you're not the one who's opening the day and closing the day," he said.

Checklists to open the day help assistants, hygienists, and front desk staff start their day organized so they come in and know what to do, Levin said. And checklists at the end of the day prevent someone from cleaning up messes the next morning.

"We want an end-of-day checklist, and that person does not leave until they complete their checklist," Levin said. "None of this is mean. This is going to help everyone to improve performance, know what to do, and get it done."
