Do’s and don’ts for increasing practice production

In many cases, hygienists are underutilized regarding production, and we typically find that practices can increase production by 20% within 60 days and maintain that increase permanently.

Practice Success Do

Identify which patients have incomplete treatment. Hygienists can be brilliant motivators for patients during the hygiene appointment in encouraging them to complete their treatment. They can even discuss the fact that patient financing and interest-free financing are available. Hygienists have great relationships with their patients, and when they speak to patients about completing treatment from a place of compassion and caring, many patients will schedule treatment-based appointments.

Practice Success Dont

Don’t forget to recommend adult fluoride and sealants for elderly patients. Taking time to educate elderly patients about why fluoride and sealants can help them avoid caries, which can be beneficial for both the patient and practice production. Work with a hygienist to determine which patients will be the best recipients of these services so that they can be presented as a recommendation, with patients making final decisions.
