Oregon has approved 22 insurance carriers to submit plans to offer individual, small employer, and dental plans that will be included in the state's online health insurance exchange, dubbed Cover Oregon.
Carriers must submit their plans by April 30 for state review, according to a story in the Portland Business Journal.
Cover Oregon takes effect in October, offering residents a new way to shop for health insurance. Thousands of new customers will need to purchase their individual and small group insurance plans through the new insurance exchange by next spring.
In addition to marketing a variety of health plans, the exchange will also provide financial assistance to people who cannot afford health insurance.
The approved carriers that cover dental care include Ameritas Life Insurance, Best Life and Health Insurance, Dental Health Services, Dentegra Insurance, Guardian Life Insurance, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon, ODS Health Plan, PacificSource Health Plans, Premier Access Insurance, Trillium Community Health Plan, and Willamette Dental Insurance.
