Week in Review: CDA Presents 2018 | Funding multipractice ownership | Toothbrushing effectiveness

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

ANAHEIM, CA - If you are unable to attend the California Dental Association's CDA Presents 2018, DrBicuspid.com has you covered. Here are some of the highlights of events and presentations at the meeting. Our coverage will continue into next week.

In a dramatic keynote address on Thursday, former tobacco researcher Victor DeNoble, PhD, recounted how he fled a top-secret laboratory in 1985 with a desk drawer and a couple of boxes of paperwork. The event was the catalyst that helped expose cigarettes as addictive and eventually led to sweeping changes with how the U.S. regulates tobacco. Read more here.

With current U.S. Food and Drug Administration research into tobacco and nicotine, DeNoble's presentation could not be more timely.

How do you finance a multipractice acquisition? Matthew Christie of Bank of America discussed on Friday what banks consider when approached by dentists who want to purchase multiple practices. You might be surprised that banks consider practical aspects beyond just finances and debt. Learn more here.

Finally from Anaheim, we offer an overview of the first day of the meeting, including new products from companies such as Dentsply Sirona and Vita North America, our Facebook Live video, and more. Read more here.

Also this week on DrBicuspid.com, when your patients ask about the most effective method for brushing their teeth, how do you respond? A new study measured the effectiveness of a systemtic approach to toothbrushing. Learn more here.
