Voco has launched MTA vpt, a biocompatible, radiopaque mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)-based cement for vital pulp therapy.
Its multistage reaction allows immediate restoration with a composite or glass ionomer. With increased compressive strength and low solubility, it is designed to provide a more durable, bacteria-resistant seal, according to Voco.
The cement, when first mixed, is light blue, cures permanently white, and is bismuth oxide- and monomer-free to prevent discoloration and cytotoxicity, according to the company. MTA vpt is available as a powder/liquid set and will soon be available in a capsule version.
