Hawaii allows more out-of-state dentists

A law signed by Gov. Linda Lingle this week will make it easier for dentists with out-of-state licenses to practice in Hawaii, according to an article by Pacific Business News.

Dentists not licensed in Hawaii can already apply for a temporary license while employed by the state or county governments to provide their services at dispensaries, infirmaries, private schools, and welfare centers, according to the article.

The new law allows temporary licenses for dentists employed by the state Department of Health to treat people with disabilities or mental illness, and also the aging population in Hawaii's rural, underserved areas, the article said.
