Henry Schein reports higher income, dental sales in Q2

Henry Schein has reported higher net income and dental sales for its fiscal second quarter of 2018.

For the quarter (end-June 30), the company reported net income of $141.2 million, an increase of 3.8% compared with $136.1 million for the second quarter of 2017. The results for the second quarter of 2017 included costs related to the company's spin-off of its animal health business of $7.6 million pretax and a litigation settlement expense of $5.3 million pretax, the company noted.

Net sales were $3.327 billion, an increase of 8.7% compared with $3.059 billion in the same quarter last year, and dental sales for the quarter increased 8.4% from $1.488 billion to $1.629 billion.
