Podcast: What impact will the merger of dental examining boards have on dentistry?

As we detailed recently, the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments-Western Regional Examining Board-Council of Interstate Testing Agencies (CDCA-WREB-CITA) merged with the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX).

According to a news release, together, these two organizations currently serve 98% of dental licensure candidates and 85% of dental hygiene licensure candidates in the U.S. through the ADEX examination, which is administered at every dental school in the country.

So why did the merger happen? What does this mean for dental workforce compacts and license portability? How is it impacting dentistry, not only in the U.S., but the world? These are some of the questions I asked Alexander Vandiver, the CEO of ADEX.

In this interview, we discuss the evolution of dental licensure, the importance of portability in exams, the expansion of international exam locations, and future opportunities for dental team members. The conversation highlights the commitment to maintaining high standards in dental education and practice while adapting to the changing needs of the profession.
