In September, I had the pleasure of speaking at the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists (AADEJ) meeting in San Diego. My topic was on building and maintaining successful podcasts -- something I believe we have done here at DrBicuspid.com, thanks to your support.
Dr. Chris Smiley.Dr. Chris Smiley
While there, I met Dr. Chris Smiley, the immediate past president of the AADEJ, a retired dentist, and former editor of the Michigan Dental Association (MDA) journal.
Our talks there and after have focused on AI and its role in journalism. With everything from Claude to ChatGPT now helping authors with their articles, how can we ensure that we don't lose the "soul" of writing by asking AI to do the work? Also, how do we ensure, if we write using AI, that we are getting the right information?
These are some of the topics we discussed in a very timely interview below, as I believe we are currently at a crossroads with creativity and journalism.
