Kettenbach Dental has introduced Profisil Free, a fluoride-free dental varnish, alongside Profisil Plus in its Profisil family of protective varnishes.
"Kettenbach is excited to share the latest addition to Kettenbach's preventive portfolio: Profisil Free, a fluoride-free dental varnish designed with patient comfort in mind," the company said in a press release.
Profisil Free is based on hydroxyapatite, calcium, and phosphate and is intended for patients whose individualized treatment plans deliberately exclude fluoride. Profisil Plus contains the same three ingredients plus 5% sodium fluoride (22,600 ppm), and its formula releases fluoride ions for up to 24 hours. It comes in mint, berry, and a neutral flavor.
Both varnishes use a mucosa-friendly dimethicone formula designed to protect sensitive tooth surfaces by mechanically sealing the dentinal tubules, and both have low allergy potential. According to the company, they do not burn, leave a bitter taste, nor do they require drying the teeth before applying. Additionally, both formulas offer controlled application, reliable adhesion, and transparent placement.
Depending on the preventive care goal, patient preference, and indication, practitioners can choose between fluoride-containing and fluoride-free options without giving up the familiar application.
