A patient recently filed a malpractice lawsuit against a dental practice in Florida claiming that a flubbed implant procedure left her with permanent injuries that require corrective surgery, according to a story published on February 10 in Ocala-News.com.

Yang McClure filed the suit on January 29 in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court for Marion County against Sapphire Dental Affiliates, which does business as Ocala Dental Care in Ocala, FL. McClure alleges that her implants were improperly positioned and her bone structure wasn’t properly assessed before the procedure was performed, according to the story.

McClure is seeking a jury trial and damages of $50,000 to cover past and future medical expenses and financial loss, as well as pain and suffering.

In January 2024, McClure went to Ocala Dental Care to get three dental implants and two restorative crowns. However, the patient claims that the implants were not placed properly and that the practice’s negligence left her with a permanent injury, according to the story.

McClure claims that she now requires specialized corrective surgery, including having the mispositioned implants surgically removed and bone grafting, to fix the damage.

Additionally, McClure accuses the practice of breach of contract, claiming she paid for professional implant placements but instead received "negligent services" that were unusable and harmful, according to the story.
