A former employee at an Iowa dental practice is accused of using two patients’ health savings account and debit card information to purchase GLP-1 weight loss medications and other items from the global online shopping website Temu, according to a news article published on June 18 on KCRG.com.
Kathryn Eilers, who was employed at Anamosa Dental Associates in Iowa, faces two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card under $10,000.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 22, 2026, a patient reported four unauthorized purchases to their health savings card account for medications from an online website. The purchases totaled $2,200.
Eilers purportedly admitted to using the card information, which she accessed while employed at Anamosa Dental Associates. She then allegedly disclosed the fraudulent purchases to her employer. Eilers was terminated from her position, according to the article.
On June 10, 2026, a separate complaint alleges that another patient reported suspicious charges on their debit card bill from online marketplace Temu and TrimRx, a website that sells GLP-1 weight loss medications. The charges date back to February and allegedly list Eilers’ name as the cardholder and her address. The charges total more than $1,800.
Eilers, the complaint states, admitted to fraudulently using the debit card, which she obtained while employed at the practice. Eilers allegedly said she was experiencing a mental health crisis when she made the purchases, according to the news article. Jones County Sheriff Greg Graver stated an investigation into Eilers is ongoing and that additional charges may be filed.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
