OrthoFX launched FXIntegrated Buttons, aligner buttons formed as a single continuous piece from the same proprietary polymer as its aligner systems, at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Annual Session in Orlando, FL.
FXIntegrated Buttons from OrthoFX.OrthoFX.
Unlike traditional bonded composite or metal buttons -- which require cutouts that can compromise aligner integrity -- or hooks attached via welding or adhesive, the new buttons are designed to eliminate adhesives and welding entirely, OrthoFX said in a news release.
Additionally, its one-piece construction can withstand up to 10 lb of force, roughly 20 times the force of typical extra heavy elastics, according to OrthoFX. The company said the design reduces chair time by removing in-office bonding and debonding steps and minimizing emergency visits due to button failure.
FXIntegrated Buttons support placement on labial, lingual, and interproximal surfaces and are compatible with OrthoFX's AirFlex, FXClear, and FXBright aligner systems. The buttons are expected to be available in early summer 2026. For more information, visit OrthoFX's website.
