Hayes offers free instrument maintenance training

Hayes Handpiece is now offering free instrument maintenance training in cities across the U.S.

Hayes has 85 locations, and most are offering this service to dentists and oral surgeons in a 30-minute lunch-and-learn format, the company said. One free continuing education credit is also available to maintenance demo attendees through a partnership with DenTrek.

"The Hayes instrument processing demo is designed to take the guesswork out of maintaining hygiene and surgical instruments," the company stated in a press release. Hayes representatives review maintenance steps recommended by top instrument manufacturers such as proper ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication, and sterilization procedures, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines pertaining to instrument infection control. They also evaluate which instruments need to be sharpened or replaced.

"We have made instrument maintenance training a priority because as a repair company, we can clearly see how offices that perform proper maintenance are protecting their investment and getting more life out of their instruments," Joe Hayes, CEO, said. "Those who do not have a good maintenance protocol in place have instruments that wear out, corrode, or have to be replaced prematurely."

Hayes has also partnered with Miltex Instruments to provide replacement instruments when needed.
