The Sinsational Smile in-office teeth-whitening system has received the Eco-Dentistry Association (EDA)'s Accepted Seal.
Sinsational Smile's whitening gel contains nontoxic carbamide peroxide with a natural desensitizer to ensure little to no sensitivity for patients, and avoids chemical compounds of concern to many consumers, such as bisphenol A (BPA), titanium dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, and other harmful chemicals, according to the company. The silicone mouth tray used for the 20-minute treatment is recyclable, and the trays are preloaded with gel so there is no need for disposable syringes.
To further reduce its environmental impact, the Sinsational Smile company headquarters uses solar power and contributes a portion of proceeds to conservation organizations.
The Accepted Seal is awarded only to products and services that offer exceptional environmental benefits for the dental practice or dental industry, according to the EDA. The seal may be appropriate for a product or service if it enables the dental professional to reduce waste and pollution, saves water or energy, incorporates innovative and/or high technology, or promotes wellness-based dentistry, such as early detection.
