A former dentist was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a 37-year-old man outside his long-closed dental practice in Georgia on the afternoon of February 14, according to multiple news stories.

Dr. David Mays, 73, who has not been licensed to practice dentistry since 1996, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for allegedly killing Monterio Spurling. Mays is being held in the Fulton County jail, according to the stories.

At around 3 p.m. on February 14, police responded to the dental office, Dr. David Mays Dentist in Atlanta, for a report of a shooting. When police officers arrived, they reportedly found Mays and Spurling, who had one gunshot wound. Spurling was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not given a possible motive for the shooting; therefore, the case remains under investigation.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
