Kuraray America announced the full 14-shade availability of Katana Zirconia One Speed, including the addition of shades A2 and A3, completing a range that now spans 13 shades from the Vita classical A1-D4 system plus NW from the Noritake Shade Guide.
The material is designed for chairside zirconia restorations and achieves a nine-minute sintering time when used with Dentsply Sirona's CEREC SpeedFire -- enabled by Kuraray Noritake Dental's proprietary zirconia powder technology -- which reaches a highly activated state with less energy. The block features four layers -- enamel, two transition layers, and body/dentin -- to support natural-looking posterior crown results without additional sintering time.
Clinicians using the full shade range should update to CEREC software version 5.2.14 or newer, CEREC software 5.3.5 or newer, or inLab CAM 22.8 to ensure compatibility, Kuraray America said.
