Although dental spending in the U.S. will increase this year, it will be lowest annual increase since 1960, according to an ADA News story.
A report by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of the Actuary projects a 2% increase in dental spending, from $99.9 billion in 2008 to $101.9 billion this year, according to the article.
"The national health spending projections were linked to the effects of economic recession," the ADA News reported. "More than half of the 1,749 dentists surveyed during the last quarter of 2008 reported declining incomes and an increase in open appointment times."
The dental and other health spending projection data are posted on the CMS Web site.
