"Team retention begins with building a great team, and a team that's built on the foundation of clear communication among teammates, consistency in the operation of the practice, and the willingness to work together toward a common goal.
"In our practice, one of the things that we did every year was take a retreat together.
"What does that mean? We would find a local meeting space, hotel, somewhere we could spend a day, or even go a little bit out of town and spend it overnight if it was possible for the members of the team to do, and spend time not only doing fun things like icebreaker games and things that would get teammates to engage with each other and learn more about each other. But we spent time in small groups talking about the operation of the practice and together developing the systems that make our practice work. And when everybody is in on developing the systems, they also will deliver consistent care to your patients.
