"Let's face it. Reputation management is a critical element for every dental practice to pay attention to.

"What does that mean? That means someone on your team or a third-party company is monitoring the reviews that are written about your practice on a daily basis.

"Now, where do the reviews come from? The first and best way to get reviews is to invite your patients to write them. Most appointment reminder software will send an email automatically inviting a patient to write a review after their appointment. You'll be surprised at how many great reviews this can generate.

"Second, you must respond to every review written. Do so in a professional way. When you demonstrate to patients that you're responsive and timely in your responses -- regardless of what the review is -- you demonstrate how the office operates in other areas as well.

"And finally, share the reviews with your team. In our practice, at our monthly team meeting, we read reviews out loud so the team can hear all the great things their patients have said about them, and if there's a negative review, it's a great opportunity for us to discuss why it happened and how we might prevent it in the future, if possible.

"Well, it's time to get back to work."
